Which electric cooperative, water provider, and internet service you use depends entirely on your county and sometimes your specific subdivision. Electric service across the lake area is split between Georgia Power, Rayle EMC, and Tri-County EMC depending on location. Georgia Power serves portions of Greene County. Rayle EMC is the primary cooperative for much of the Greensboro area. Tri-County EMC handles distribution across large portions of Putnam County. It is important to note that Georgia Power’s role at Lake Oconee extends far beyond electricity — as the FERC license holder for the lake itself, Georgia Power governs all shoreline permitting, dock approvals, and water level management regardless of which electric provider serves your home.

Piedmont Water is well known among long-term residents for inconsistent water quality. Consequently, whole-home filtration systems are strongly recommended regardless of whether your property is on Piedmont Water or a private well. Properties not served by Piedmont Water typically rely on private wells or, in some cases, county water systems.

Internet & Cable Service at Lake Oconee
