The Vintage Club, Lake Oconee | Neighborhood Guide

The Vintage Club is a gated townhome community at the Highway 44 bridge, and the units are considerably larger than they look from the street, almost shockingly so. These were set up for full time living with ample storage upstairs and down. But Vintage Club is also the perfect lock and leave community with a place to store your boat – in the water or out.

The Slips Are A Huge Bonus

The storage yard inside the gate.

Each unit carries a deeded assigned slip, and The Vintage Club permits boat lifts on them, subject to size limits. That combination is rare. Plenty of communities here give you an assigned slip; barely any let you put a lift on it.

The slips sit on community docks below the units with 24-hour access. One thing to walk before you buy: slips are assigned, and the ones serving the more interior units near the entrance sit farther out in the cove toward big water. That is a longer walk, and it is uphill coming back. With a cooler and a couple of children it is a real consideration, not a small one.

There is also a storage yard inside the gate for boats and trailers in the off season.

On the water

Cove or Main Lake

Most of the units back onto the deep cove that separates The Vintage Club from Highway 44, east of the main bridge. The rest, along with both single-family homes, face the main lake with views across to Sebastian Cove.

The two look and feel different from a back porch, and they are worth seeing side by side before you choose.

The Vintage Club

Highway 44 Is Coming

The Vintage Club sits directly on the Highway 44 widening and the bridge work. And there is a big open question about that. Anyone buying needs to know the answers and anyone selling needs to know them as well. It will likely be an early question in the process.

What is not settled is what happens to the entrance off Lake Oconee Parkway during and after construction, and how close the widened road will come to the cove side that most of these units face. The work is still a couple of years out, which is exactly why it is easier to get answers now than to discover them later.

Ask the POA what they have been told by GDOT. Ask whether any right-of-way has been discussed. Ask what the entrance looks like during construction. Somebody knows, and the questions are reasonable ones for an owner or a buyer to put. The wider picture is in the commercial district guide.

The Townhomes at The Vintage Club

They are bigger inside than the street suggests. Recent sales run from about 1,600 to 3,700 square feet, most of it on multiple levels with terrace-level space below. The original townhomes date to 1990 and a later phase went in through the 2000s.

The POA handles the lawn and the landscaping, which is most of the appeal. People buy here to spend weekends on the water rather than on a mower.

Several kinds of buyer, and they are not who you would guess. Second-home owners who want the lake without the upkeep. People building elsewhere on the lake who need somewhere to be in the meantime — it happens here regularly. And anyone who wants a slip with a lift at a price no waterfront house will match.

Questions

The Vintage Club: Frequently Asked Questions

Where is The Vintage Club on Lake Oconee?

On Lake Oconee Parkway in Greene County, right beside the Highway 44 bridge over the lake.

Does every unit at The Vintage Club have a boat slip?

Yes. Each unit carries a deeded assigned slip on the community docks, with 24-hour access.

Can you put a boat lift on a slip at The Vintage Club?

Yes, subject to size restrictions. That is uncommon for an assigned community slip on this lake.

Is The Vintage Club gated?

Yes, and there is a second gate at the back that opens into The Landing at Reynolds Lake Oconee.

What are the POA dues at The Vintage Club?

$2,700 a year on recent sales, covering lawn care and landscaping.

Are there single-family homes in The Vintage Club?

Two. Everything else is a townhome.

What amenities does The Vintage Club have?

A pool and pool house, community docks with assigned slips, a boat and trailer storage yard, a lakeside walking path and green space.

Will the Highway 44 widening affect The Vintage Club?

The community sits directly on it. What has not been settled publicly is the entrance during and after construction, and how close the widened road comes to the cove. Ask the POA what GDOT has told them before you buy or list.

How much can I sell my Vintage Club townhome for?

Not by square footage alone. Slip location, whether the unit faces the cove or the main lake, the coming road work, finishes, and whether the unit has been remodeled all come up in listing inquiries. This neighborhood is, by geography, the closest to both the Greene county and Putnam county sides of the main Lake Oconee commercial corridor. And that matters for a lot of people. Ask Margie Sorrell what your Vintage Club townhome would bring.

Thinking About The Vintage Club?

I rented here for just over a year while we waited for something to come up on the Richland side, so this is one I know from the inside rather than from a listing sheet. Get in touch.
