Lake Oconee News reported in June 2026 that nearly 30 acres of the site will be kept as community open space.

Building With SIPs at Oakdale Forest

Lagom builds its houses from structural insulated panels, known as SIPs. Each panel is a thick layer of rigid foam bonded between two structural boards, made in a factory and assembled on site into walls and roofs. Lagom manufactures its own panels.

The advantages are a tight, well-insulated house that is quieter and cheaper to heat and cool, and a faster build. Lagom puts the energy savings at about half of a conventionally framed house. In September 2026 the company was selected to exhibit at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Innovative Housing Showcase in Washington.
