The Straightest Road at the Lake
Hunters Chase Court is the straightest road I have ever been on: a half mile dead straight from Denham Road to the cul-de-sac at the end. Congratulations to whoever graded and paved it. Every time I drive it I wonder what my mom-mobile could do. But every time, I behave.
The rest of the drive is country. Denham Road runs past farms and pasture and like the residents of Alexander Lakes, homeowners from Hunter’s Chase are also out on the country road taking advantage — this time on e-bikes.
The Homes in Hunter’s Chase
Hunter’s Chase has 44 lots in all. Three houses went up in 2008, and then, like a lot of Lake Oconee and most of the nation, the neighborhood sat through the recession. Building picked back up in 2017, most of the street filled in between 2017 and 2020, and a second round of newer homes has gone up since 2022. Several new homes have just been built in 2026.
The earlier homes are mostly ranches of about 1,600 to 2,100 square feet, with three or four bedrooms and two baths. The newer ones run larger, about 2,000 to 2,500 square feet, and some are two-story craftsman plans with a bonus room or fourth bedroom upstairs. Two of those plans are the same ones seen inside Alexander Lakes so one can assume the same builder snatched up lots in both communities.
What Homes in Hunter’s Chase Sell For
New homes here sold for about $180,000 to $230,000 before COVID but since 2023, Hunter’s Chase has moved up into a higher range — the high $200,000s to the low $400,000s, depending mostly on the size of the house, when it was built, the number of bedrooms and its condition.
The older three-bedroom ranches have tended to land around $285,000 to $320,000, and the newer four-bedroom homes around $350,000 to $420,000. Treat that as a range to start; the right house with better finishes and details can sit above others in this neighborhood.
Hunter’s Chase, Alexander Lakes and Oconee Meadows
Hunter’s Chase is one of three country subdivisions out this way, and it sits in the middle of the group. The homes in Alexander Lakes run larger and higher in price, and many of them sit on its two private lakes. The homes in Oconee Meadows tend to run a little smaller and lower in price.
